Muscatine, Iowa – The Muscatine Symphony Orchestra invites you and your family to an afternoon of holiday favorites that will get you in the mood for the joyous season ahead. Following a long-standing tradition, the concert is free and you are asked to bring donations for local nonprofits.
The symphony will perform an eclectic blend of timeless classics and modern takes on it, offering a perfect way to spend an afternoon with your family and friends. The performance will include holiday favorites ranging from Leroy Anderson and Rimsky-Korsakov to Mannheim Steamroller and Trans Siberian Orchestra.
“I find myself in great anticipation for this concert every year,” said Maestro Brian Dollinger, who is currently in his 16th season conducting the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra. “We have always had a lot of families at our evening performances of this concert, but with our earlier start time of 3 p.m., I’m hoping we can pack the house!”
Joining the symphony will be local musicians, regional professional musicians, and students from the Muscatine High School Orchestra program. One more special visitor will join the celebration.
“We have been fortunate for many years to have a wonderful visitor from the North Pole grace our stage with holiday joy,” Maestro Dollinger said.
The performance will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 at Central Middle School auditorium, 901 Cedar St. With collection bins placed in the lobby, the Salvation Army will accept non-perishable food items, and the Community Diaper Bank will accept diapers in a range of sizes. The Muscatine Symphony Orchestra’s 2019-20 season includes exciting collaborations with guest artists and musical programming that sparks the imagination or marks special anniversaries in history.
A grant from the Iowa Arts Council, a division of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, provides support for the 2019-20 Concert Season.
