Cheryl Neumann has been the principal bassoonist for the Muscatine Symphony Orchestra for over eight years.
Enjoying music has been a part of her life since she was very young. She recalls “playing a piano solo at a local music competition when I was six years old – I won first place and can still play the song!”
She has many types of music and composers that she enjoys, but for orchestral repertoire, she enjoys Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, and Tchaikovsky. While in the wind ensemble repertoire, she likes Percy Grainger and Philip Sparke’s music.
“I loved playing Peter and the Wolf, it’s a piece every bassoon player has practiced forever!”
