Nancy Stoos
Instrument:  Bass Clarinet / Clarinet

Nancy is a retired homemaker. She and her late husband, Dwayne, were originally from Ottumwa, Iowa. They have two grown children, Jennifer Schreiner and Joshua Stoos, who were both percussionists in the Mighty Muskie Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. They were both very active in music while attending school in Muscatine.

Nancy has been involved in many aspects of volunteer work in Muscatine. Most recently her volunteer involvement includes the MSO, PEO and T.T.T. Society. She is a member of St. Mathias / St. Mary Church where she served many years as a Religious Education Teacher and Usher. She currently serves the MSO as Webmaster, Librarian, Advisor and Players Committee Representative. In the past she served as the MSO Personnel Manager and Librarian as well as many other volunteer jobs within the symphony. She and her husband Dwayne were instrumental in forming boyscout troup 783, both having served as Scoutmaster before handing over the reins to very capable people who had been involved with the troop for several years.

Nancy was born and raised on a farm in Southern Iowa. Working in the fields was as second nature to her as going to school or being involved in music. As a very young child she found music to be the outlet she needed to maintain a balance in life. For many years she served as Sunday school pianist and later as substitute organist; she also played clarinet and tenor sax in the high school band.

She says:  "Music has always been at the heart of my life."
